Onyx was discovered in Great Brittan, Which Explains the crown designs on his arms and legs. The black net designs come from the fact that Baronyx was an expert fisherman! As for the red- thats blood splatter design! The blood tear is from the old saying "crocodile tears", said to be shed by crocodiles after they eat an animal in remorse.
Although very cool and with elemental boost, onyx's low defense make me advise against useing him seriously.
